Online Forex Trading - If you can take the emotion out of trading the forex then you can do very well. The problem with most forex traders however, is the temptation to take small trading profits off the table and close out a trade too early, while at the same time allowing what were once small losing trades to turn into huge trading losses. As mentioned in one of my earlier articles, this is where the art of money management comes into its’ own. Limit any one trade to no more than 2% of your account value and you should be in good stead for your trading activities.

However, remember that online forex trading can also be very volatile - the markets may seem calm and almost ‘doldrum-esque’ but if you take your eye off the charts even for a few minutes it can be to your certain peril. This is why most traders these days have computerised ’stops’ in place which are there to protect them in the case of a sudden market move in the wrong direction. If you want to trade the forex and still have your shirt at the end of the week, then make sure that you NEVER place a trade without putting a stop loss in at the same time that you enter the market.
Don’t go into online forex trading for fun unless you can afford to lose your whole account without it affecting your personal financial standing. Most people who trade the forex lose money and it is not due to the fact that there is no money to be made, it is purely down to the sad fact that most people let their emotions do the trading for them. It kind of reminds me of the story of King Canute who refused to allow the tide to come in…He was drowned very quickly (at least he went down with his Crown on!)
My advice to anyone starting out would be to research a good automatic trading system. You may think this strange advice to give but you would do well to bear in mind that the majority of financial institutions now use automatic systems to do ALL of their trading. Also bear in mind that computers now fly you to your holiday destination while the pilot simply oversees and pushes a few buttons…it will certainly help you with the psychological side, too.
